Composition
Active substance:
100 ml solution contains: xylometazoline hydrochloride 0.050 g ;.
Excipients:
Benzalkonium chloride (as a 50% solution) 0.040 g, calculated as benzalkonium chloride 0.020 g citric acid monohydrate 0.050 g sodium citrate dihydrate 0.260 g, 85% glycerol 2.400 g Purified water to 100 ml.

The clear, colorless solution.

Nasal spray metered [children] 0.05%.
15 ml or 20 ml in a dark glass vial with a metering device for the atomization nozzle for the nose and a protective cap.
1 bottle together with instructions for use in a cardboard box.
Contraindications
– hypersensitivity to Xylometazoline or other components of the formulation; – inflammation of the skin, nasal mucosa and crust formation (sicca); – application after hypophysectomy; – the use in children under 2 years of age; – closure glaucoma; – receiving monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) and tricyclic antidepressants.
Carefully:
Use with caution in patients with hypertension, severe heart disease, hyperthyroidism and diabetes.

Indications
As a symptomatic treatment for the following diseases and conditions: – acute viral or bacterial rhinitis; – acute allergic rhinitis; – acute exacerbation of chronic sinusitis or rhinosinusitis; – acute otitis media (to reduce mucosal edema Eustachian tubes); – preparation of patients for diagnostic procedures in the nasal passages.
Interaction with other drugs
Simultaneous treatment with tri- or tetracyclic antidepressants can increase the systemic exposure of xylometazoline. When simultaneous administration of the drug with inhibitors of monoamine oxidase (MAO) is possible risk of increased blood pressure.
Overdose
In rare cases of overdose occurring predominantly in children, the following symptoms may occur: irregular heartbeat, increased blood pressure, in some cases – loss of consciousness. In overdose shown symptomatic treatment under observation. In serious cases, there may be employed non-selective alpha-adrenergic blockers for lowering blood pressure as well as intubation and artificial ventilation of the lungs. Vasoconstrictor drugs are contraindicated. When the random reception of moderate or large amounts of the drug inside, should take activated charcoal (adsorbent) and sodium sulphate (laxative), gastric lavage.

Pharmacological properties:
Xylometazoline is an alpha-adrenoceptor agonists used for local application in ENT practice.
When applied topically, xylometazoline causes constriction of the arterioles, which leads to a reduction of hyperemia and edema of the mucous membranes of the nasopharynx and reduce the discharge of secretions. A distinct local effect of the drug is detected after a few minutes and lasts for several hours (up to 6 – 8 hours), appearing in restoring patency of the nasal passages, sinuses and the openings of the Eustachian tubes. Regeneration air permeability nasopharynx improves the health of patients and reduces the risk of possible complications caused by stagnation of mucous secretions.
Pharmacokinetics:
When applied topically, xylometazoline practically not absorbed, so the concentration in plasma are very small (analytically determined).

Dosing and Administration
Children from 2 years to 10: 1 dose (one press of the piston unit) into each nasal passage is not more than 3 times per day (maximum dose should not exceed seven times a day). The interval between administration of the drug should not be less than 6 hours. 1 dose = 0.07 ml, 35 micrograms.
To avoid complications in the form of a resumption of symptoms, duration of continuous use of the drug should not exceed 7 days. Before applying Rinonorm-Teva drug is recommended to release the nasal passage from a secret, and during administration of the drug is necessary to make an easy breath through the nose. For use in adults and children older than 10 years should use the drug Rinonorm-Teva, a metered nasal spray.
