pharmachologic effect
Pharmacological group:
An antiviral agent.
Pharmacological properties:
Nomides – is an antiviral drug, which includes oseltamivir carboxylate, which inhibits influenza virus A and B. The result of this is suppressed: the release of newly formed viral particles from infected cells and their penetration into the epithelial cells of the respiratory tract and the further spread of the virus in the body.
Nomides is an effective means of prevention and treatment of influenza in adults and children over the age of 3 years. At the beginning of treatment not later than 40 hours after the first symptoms of influenza Nomides significantly shortens the period of clinical manifestations of influenza infection, reduces their weight and reduces the incidence of influenza complications requiring antibiotics (bronchitis, pneumonia, sinusitis, otitis media), shortens the virus isolation from the body.
Following oral administration of oseltamivir phosphate is readily absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and a highly converted into the active metabolite by the action of hepatic esterases. The concentrations of the active metabolite in the plasma are determined within 30 minutes and reaching almost the maximum level 2-3 hours after ingestion. Not less than 75% of an oral dose reaches the systemic circulation as the active metabolite. Plasma concentrations are proportional to dose and are not dependent on food intake.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
Not found direct or indirect adverse effects of the drug on pregnancy, embriofetalnoe or postnatal development. During pregnancy and breastfeeding period, oseltamivir is used only if the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus and child.
