Indications
Established magnesium deficiency, isolated or associated with other deficiency states, accompanied by symptoms such as irritability, minor sleep disturbances, gastrointestinal spasms, fatigue, pain, and muscle spasms, tingling sensation in the muscles.
If after a month of treatment there is no reduction in these symptoms, continued treatment is inappropriate.
Interaction with other drugs
When simultaneous administration of magnesium preparations with iron preparations, sodium fluoride and tetracyclines may reduce the absorption of the latter. Furthermore, aminoquinolines, quinidine, penicillamine should not be administered concurrently with magnesium preparations. Therefore, these drugs should be taken with an interval of 2-3 hours. Oral contraceptives, diuretics, muscle relaxants, glucocorticoids, insulin, reduce the effect of the drug.
Magnesium should be used with caution if you are taking magnesium-containing medications such as antacids or laxatives, or potassium-sparing diuretics or medications containing calcium. While the use of preparations containing aluminum, the aluminum may be increased in the absorption body.
Magnesium should be used with caution while the use of digitalis preparations, since simultaneous application can interfere with the absorption of digitalis preparations.
Some antibiotics (aminoglycosides), cisplatin and cyclosporin A can lead to increased excretion of magnesium.
Some diuretics (furosemide and thiazides), erlotinib and cetuximab, proton pump inhibitors (omeprazole and pantoprazole), foscarnet, pentamidine, rapamycin and amphotericin B may cause a magnesium deficiency, and thus, result in decreased drug effect Magnerot®.
Overdose
In normal renal function receiving magnesium inside does not cause toxic reactions.
Magnesium poisoning may occur in patients with renal insufficiency. Toxic effects are mainly dependent on the magnesium concentration in the blood serum. Symptoms: reduced blood pressure, nausea, vomiting, depression, diminished reflexes, respiratory depression, coma, cardiac arrest, anurichesky syndrome.
Treatment: rehydration, diuresis, renal failure required hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis.
pharmachologic effect
Pharmacological group:
magnesium preparation
Pharmacodynamics:
The preparation of magnesium. Is an essential macronutrient magnesium carries more than 300 enzymatic reactions regulation of cell permeability and neuromuscular excitability. Necessary to ensure the many energy processes involved in the metabolism of proteins, fats, carbohydrates and nucleic acids. Magnesium exerts kurarepodobnymi closure effect on cholinergic neurons, decreasing the release of acetylcholine; magnesium and calcium interact synergistically in the body part; However, in the competitive inhibition of calcium and magnesium can also affect its binding sites as “physiological calcium antagonist.”
Pharmacokinetics:
It absorbed approximately 35-40% of the dose. Hypomagnesaemia stimulates absorption of magnesium ions. The presence of orotic acid salts of magnesium improves the absorption.
Magnesium is excreted by the kidneys, excretion decreases with magnesium deficiency and increased when it is excess.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
Magnerot® drug can be used during pregnancy only on the advice of a doctor.
Magnesium is excreted in breast milk. It should avoid the use of the drug during breastfeeding.
Use of the drug during pregnancy and lactation is possible if the potential benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus and child.
