Acute overdose is highly unlikely, however, when using the drug in large areas of the affected skin with enhanced ability to resorption over time or with use of occlusive dressings can be chronic overdose accompanied by signs of Cushing: hyperglycemia, glycosuria, reversible depression of adrenocortical function, a manifestation of Cushing’s syndrome -Kushinga.

pharmachologic effect
Pharmacological group:
glucocorticosteroid for topical application.

anti, antipruritic effect.
Use of the drug at the recommended doses Lokoid® not cause suppression of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system.
Although the use of high doses for long periods, especially when using occlusive dressings may lead to an increase in cortisol in the blood plasma, it is not usually accompanied by a decrease in reactivity gipofizarnonadpochechnikovoy system, and removal of the drug leads to rapid normalization of cortisol production.
Pharmacokinetics:
Suction
After application of the active substance accumulation in the epidermis, mainly in the granular layer, systemic absorption is negligible. A small amount of hydrocortisone 17-butyrate is absorbed into the systemic circulation in an unchanged form.
Metabolism
Most of hydrocortisone 17-butyrate, hydrocortisone and metabolized to other metabolites directly in the epidermis and subsequently in the liver.
breeding
Metabolites and a small portion of unchanged hydrocortisone 17-butyrate is excreted by the kidneys and through the intestines.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
Pregnancy
Safety of application of hydrocortisone during pregnancy and lactation has not been studied.
Glucocorticosteroids cross the placental barrier. Avoid long-term treatment and the use of large doses during pregnancy due to the risk of negative impact on fetal development.
Breastfeeding
Glucocorticosteroids are excreted in breast milk. In the case where it is assumed glucocorticosteroid application in large doses and / or for a long time,
should stop breastfeeding.

Furthermore, children can have a greater degree of systemic resorption because of the relation between the surface skin and body weight, as well as due to insufficient skin maturity. Long-term treatment of children glucocorticosteroid may impair their growth and development. Therefore, long-term use of the drug should be under the supervision of a physician.
