Composition
Active substance:
100 ml of syrup contains: karbotsistein – 2.000 g;
One spoonful syrup (5 ml) contains 100 mg of carbocisteine, 3.5 g of saccharose and 13 mg of sodium.
Excipients:
Sucrose – 70,000 g methyl parahydroxybenzoate – 0.150 g vanillin – 0.05 g, carmine dye (Ponceau 4R) (cochineal red A (E 124)) – 0.005 g, raspberry flavor – 1.00 mL, cherry flavoring – 0,50 ml sodium hydroxide – to pH = 6,10-6,30, purified water – 100 ml.

Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to carbocisteine ​​or other components of the formulation. Gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer in the acute stage. Chronic glomerulonephritis (exacerbation) cystitis. Pregnancy. Children under 2 years old.

Indications

Interaction with other drugs
Karbotsistein glucocorticosteroid increases efficiency and antibacterial therapy of inflammatory diseases of the upper and lower respiratory tract. Potentiate the bronchodilator effect of theophylline. Action carbocisteine ​​weaken antitussives and m-anticholinergic medicaments.
Overdose
Symptoms: gastralgia, nausea, diarrhea. Treatment is symptomatic.

Karbotsistein activates sialic transferase – enzyme goblet cells of the bronchial mucosa, normalizes the proportion of acidic and neutral sialomutsinov promotes regeneration of the mucosa, it normalizes its structure, activates the activity of the ciliary epithelium, restores the secretion of immunologically active IgA (specific protection), improves mucociliary clearance.
Pharmacokinetics:
Karbotsistein rapidly absorbed after oral administration, reaching a maximum serum concentration after 2 h. Bioavailability is low (less than 10% of the administered dose) due to possible rapid passage through the liver. The half – about 2 hours. Excreted mainly by the kidneys with metabolites.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
