pharmachologic effect
Pharmacological group:
Antifungal agent. ATC code J02AC02.
Pharmacological properties:
Itraconazole – synthetic antifungal broad-spectrum triazole derivative. The mechanism of action of itraconazole is to inhibit ergosterol biosynthesis – the major component of the cell membrane of the fungus involved in maintaining the structural integrity of the membrane. Violation of ergosterol synthesis results in a change in membrane permeability and cell lysis that causes the antifungal effect of the drug. Itraconazole is active against infections caused by fungi – dermatophytes (Trichophyton spp, Microsporum spp, Epidermophyton floccosum..); – yeast fungi (. Candida spp, including C. albicans, C. tropicalis, C. pararsilosis, C. krusei, Cryptococcus neoformans, Malassezia spp, Trichosporon spp, Geotrichum spp…); Aspergillus spp .; Histoplasma spp, including H. capsulatum.; Paracoccidioides brasiliensis; Sporothrix schenckii; Fonsecaea spp .; Cladosporium spp .; Blastomyces dermatitidis; Coccidiodes immitis, Pseudallescheria boydii; Penicillium marneffei and many others.
