Burning, itching, watery eyes, a feeling of the presence of a foreign body or dryness are symptoms of eye irritation. You rub your eyes, but unpleasant symptoms remain. This is an indication that the surface of the eye too dry.
Healthy eye surface covered with a smooth, uniform lachrymal film which supports the fabric in a good functional condition and washes away any dust or dirt. Some conditions create an additional burden for the eyes and the deterioration of physiological functions of the tear film. With age, the lacrimal secretion decreases. Ophthalmic solution moisturizing HILOPARIN-KOMOD® combines the advantages of two physiologic substances. Due to its physical and chemical properties of these substances are particularly suitable for the restoration of the tear film on the eye surface. The composition HILOPARIN-KOMOD® solution containing sodium hyaluronate, which is a natural substance. Sodium hyaluronate is a physiological polysaccharide compound contained in the tissues of the eye, and in other tissues and fluids of the human body. Special physical and chemical properties of sodium hyaluronate molecules is their pronounced ability to bind and hold water molecules in amounts many times greater than its own weight. Its long molecular chains form a water storage, and alters viscosity gel structure, adapting it to the movement of the eyelids.
Elasticity and thixotropic properties of the solution ensures, on the one hand, the formation of a stable humidifying film over the ocular surface and on the other hand, does not hinder vision of winks in between the eyelids. The aqueous sodium hyaluronate solution has the required viscosity, and high adhesive properties relative to the front surface of the eye (cornea and conjunctiva). sodium heparin also is a natural substance similar in chemical structure to the sodium hyaluronate. Furthermore, the chemical structure of heparin sodium has great similarities with the physiological tear film mucin, it is also surrounded by a significant amount of water. These properties allow further sodium heparin sodium hyaluronate support a moisturizing effect, thereby creating the necessary conditions for the regeneration of the ocular surface epithelium. Sodium hyaluronate and heparin restore normal cornea and conjunctiva; together with natural tears these components additionally moisten the ocular surface.
The result is a stable tear film, which protects the eyes from harmful environmental factors. Due to the absence of preservatives and content of natural substances HILOPARIN-KOMOD® solution was generally well tolerated.
