0.4 mg
Indications
folic acid deficiency.
Prevention of neural tube defects in the fetus in the I trimester of pregnancy.
Interaction with other drugs
Reduces the effect of phenytoin (dose required to increase it).
Analgesics (chronic treatment), anticonvulsants (including phenytoin and carbamazepine), estrogens, oral contraceptives increase the demand for folic acid.
Antacids, colestyramine, sulfonamino (incl sulfasalazine) reduce the absorption of folic acid.
Methotrexate, pyrimethamine, triamterene, trimethoprim inhibit dihydrofolate reductase and reduced folate effect (instead of patients treated with these drugs should be given calcium folinate).
While the use of chloramphenicol, neomycin, polymyxin, tetracyclines folate absorption decreases.
Overdose
It may occur during chronic administration (more than 1-2 months) folic acid in doses up to 1000 mg per day, and by co-use with vitamin-mineral complexes.
pharmachologic effect
Pharmacological group:
Vitamin.
Pharmacodynamics:
B vitamin (vitamin Sun, vitamin B9) may be synthesized by intestinal microflora. In the body, folic acid is reduced to tetrahydrofolic acid, a coenzyme participating in various metabolic processes. It is essential for normal maturation and education megaloblasts normoblasts. Stimulates erythropoiesis, is involved in the synthesis of amino acids (including glycine, methionine), nucleic acids, purines, pyrimidines, exchangeable choline, histidine.
Pharmacokinetics:
Folic acid is readily and completely absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, preferably in the upper duodenum. Almost completely bound to plasma proteins.
Subjected to activation in the liver by the enzyme dihydrofolate reductase, turning into tetrahydrofolic acid. Maximum plasma concentration (Cmax) is achieved after 30-60 min. Penetrates the blood-brain and placental barriers and passes into breast milk. Excreted by the kidneys mainly as metabolites; if the received dose considerably higher than the daily requirement of folic acid, it is excreted unchanged. Displayed by hemodialysis.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
Folic acid is required in preparation for pregnancy (1-3 months prior to planned pregnancy) and in the first few weeks after conception (I term).
Conditions of supply of pharmacies
Without recipe.
side effects
Allergic reactions (rash, pruritus, bronchospasm, erythema, hyperthermia); on the part of the gastrointestinal tract: nausea, flatulence, bitter taste in mouth, anorexia.
With prolonged use may develop vitamin deficiencies B12.
special instructions
For preventing hypovitaminosis most preferably balanced nutrition. The product was rich in folic acid – green vegetables (lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, carrots), fresh liver, beans, beets, eggs, cheese, nuts, cereals. Folic acid is not used for baking
B12-deficiency (pernicious) normocytic and aplastic anemia, and anemia refractory to therapy. In pernicious (B12 deficiency) anemia folic acid,
improving hematologic, neurologic complications masks. While not excluded pernicious anemia, folate purpose in doses exceeding 0.1 mg / day are not recommended (exception – pregnancy and lactation). It should be borne in mind that patients undergoing hemodialysis require high amounts of folic acid.
During treatment antacids should be applied after 2 h after administration of folic acid, cholestyramine -this 4-6 hours before or after 1 h after folic acid.
It should be borne in mind that antibiotics can distort (knowingly give underestimated parameters) assessment of microbiological folate concentrations plasma and erythrocytes.
When large doses of folic acid, as well as therapy for a long period is possible to reduce the concentration of vitamin 812.
Storage conditions
In a dry, dark place at a temperature not higher than 25 C.
Keep out of reach of children.
Dosing and Administration
Administered orally after meals. – When folate deficiency-400 micrograms (1 tab.) Per day. -For the prevention of neural tube defects in the fetus in the 1st trimester – 400 g – 800 g (1-2 tablets).
